Spin, Lies And Video Tapes

Well it's been a tough week for Hillary Clinton.

First she is caught in a bold faced lie while making several speeches, reflecting on her harrowing arrival to Bosnia's Tuzla Airport.

Instead of the truth, which was caught on video tape where a pretty little girl greeted her and her daughter Chelsea along with a star-studded entourage with flowers, Hills claims that she had to run for cover, ducking snipers' bullets all the way.

Then there was the saga of how Hillary played a major role in the in Northern Ireland Peace Accord. Apparently one of the real stars and 1998 Nobel Peace Prize winner Lord David Trimble, who shared this prize with John Hume, has a "slightly different" recollection of what actually occurred.

I guess being 700,000 popular votes and 140 pledged delegates behind her opponent Barack Obama and slipping in her grab for the outstanding Super Delegates has made it a little hard to breath Chez Clinton.

So what does any self-proclaimed presumptive leader of the Free World do when caught on video tape fibbing?

Just say, "I misspoke America", get over it!

If that doesn't work you try to change the subject.

This may explain why Clinton, in an act of desperation, tried to rip the scab of racism off the Reverend Wright - Barack Obama simmering firestorm once again.

As this issue was fading, Clinton found an opportunity to revive it. She claimed that she would never have Reverend Jeremiah Wright as her pastor?

Wow!

Now Barack also had to change his tune. In his now-famous speech, Obama shifted his position, claiming that he might have been in the church when Reverend Wright made incendiary statements, spinning a new angle just in case a video should appear taken by one of the members of his congregation.

No one is safe from the 24-hour news cycle or the other side's opposition research team.

While the two Democrats go at each other's throats, John McCain is now getting a free ride.

His poll numbers are up, even though he made one of the most outrageous comments stating that Iran was training al Qaeda fighters.

Consequently after three other occasions "misspeaking", his new friend and turncoat former Democrat Joe Lieberman whispered on camera in his ear that it is the extremists who are being trained in Iran not al Qaeda.

Whether it was a senior moment or intended military tough guy saber rattling, McCain had just one little thing wrong. The Iranian Shiite don't really like the Sunni al Qaeda, never mind train them.

With five months to go before the Democratic Convention in Denver and seven months before the general election, the voters will have plenty of time to decide if they have had their fill of "spin, lies and video tapes."

After eight years of George W. Bush is it really time for a change and a leader who will tell them the truth, even when it hurts?

A leader who will admit mistakes and learn from them?

A leader who genuinely cares more about the American people and America's position in the world than personal power and self-aggrandisement?

Right now, let's go to the video tape!

To Kristin, Yes Africa is and will never be a success, why because for the first time they get to run a country in Africa after 300 years, earn a fat salary, ride in a German made luxury cars at high speed, place there families in positions of power, vist overseas and meet the G8 heads of state, eat in Europes fine resturants, then come back to Africa and then critize Western Leaders. Having said that, they never launch attacks on foreign countries for oil.

See today on Italian news broadcasts that Al Gore is probably going to come back on the scene and the powers that be in the Democrats will more than likely nominate him as the presidential candidate, way to go Al, didn't spend a dime on his campaigning and will more than likely walk away with the prize. At least that will be better than Barack Osama and his slimy smile.

"I am amazed at the SA bloggers, surely they can see what has happened in the entire African Continent - where is the success?"
Where is the success in America or England for that matter as well?

I am a white middle-aged lady who has been following the campaign trail on Fox News and personally I think it is about time someone spoke up for Obama. There has been s lot of Obama-bashing from the mainly white, affluent media who have no CLUE what blacks in the US actually think. Why are they so shocked by Rev Wright's remarks? As far as I am concerned Obama is the best candidate as he has tried to keep his hands as clean as possible and this is more than we can say for "mis-speaking" Hillary. If Obama has left his church I would have lost all faith in him - what kind of man would dump his church of 20 years for the sake of political expediency? It would have smacked of someone prepared to tread on anyone to get to the top. That is Hillary Clinton’s job. All of us have heard our own pastors say things we did not agree with and have still gone back to our pews week after week so please people, get off you high horses!! How many times has Bush said idiotic things and yet none of you have emigrated because you disagreed? Yet you expect this young man to leave his church which is really like a home to him and denounce his spiritual leader - shame on you. I do agree that Rev Wright said some inflammatory things but Obama did not feed him that nonsense. in

What an insane electoral system. What of the staggering costs associated with the whole long drawn out cock (and hen) fight. Its more than the Gross National Product of most countries. Surely to goodness the money could have been put to better use elsewhere.

We only have to look back and remember how Hillary told us it would be all over by February 5th, so she has been em embellishing the truth for quite a long time, but when it runs in the family, how did Bill look us Americans straight in the face and tell us such lies about Monica? - Hillary is tainted and is hanging on now for her own vanity as well as the Super Rich Democrats and the Washington Lobbyists who have put so much money into her campaign, why have they invested so much, because they want the same old politics of the Past, that is why we want Change!

Barack Obama has had so much dirt thrown at home from the Clinton campaign, but give him his dues he has remained dignified, no wild claims about wins, just a hard run campaign with everyone working Together!

McCain may be looking good at present as Voters are put off by the negative campaign tactics and watching Hillary hang on for selfish reasons, But if Barack Obama becomes the Democrats Candidate as he should, then how will a tired and not well looking McCain contend. Voters will get even more energized and see they want Change!

mccain will become president, in a fight against hillary. why they cant see that obama is the right man! i suppose the past can only explain. many americans are to self centred and scared of what change may do to them

None of us would be human or genuine if we did not admit to wanting the honour and the glory. All the presidential candidates are the same as us...let's get real.
Each one of them is going to be going flat out for the top job, whatever it takes, truths or fibs, they are human!
America will decide later this year and will need all the blessing God has to offer.

Firstly intelligent & open minded citizens should stop refering to Obama as "a black man" and Hillary as "a white woman". Both of them are potential candidates with different policies. If Americans could only see beyond this shadow of "man-woman", "black-white", then they will definately elect the right president. Its an extremely shallow mentality to refer to any candidate in respect to their colour, gender, where they come from....and so on.
Hillary=another Bill Clinton era; McCain=another Bush*2 era; Obama=fresh change;great change that America has been & still is craving for. Thanx

What Michael Hardman from RSA forgot to mention is that the local media surpresses news of over 10 000 deaths on the roads each year, over 20 000 murders each year, over 5 million 'culled' by being refused aids treatment, etc, but publish every american/british death in Iraq and Afghanistan...

I have read all the above and amazed about comments about the Clintons. At least Bill did not go and squander unnecassary funds on phoney wars, like Bush has. There was a substantial amount left in the coffers when Bush took over. I remember one of his speeches he gave and the statement he made clearly sticks in my mind, 'I am a War President'. What a statement to make. And the Republicans call themselves Conservatives - what a joke. This is what caused America, what they are suffering now economically.

I do not know much about Obama, except he keeps adding bits to his speeches, which he took from other famous statesmen/politicians. The word, 'Change' came from MLK. Maybe he will make a good leader, but I have my doubts. It is easy to use weasel words and then at the end of the day provide nothing. I do not think America is ready to give a woman a chance to be a leader. It is a step backwards when we say, that man and a woman are equal, why then men always appear to earn more than a woman despite holding similar positions. So I do not think that Hillary will be the next President, based on this assumption. People should choose a leader on their merits be it a man or a woman, regardless of their color.

The holy grail of running the Whitehouse continues to elude the American political theorist and their public for the last three decades. Yet they don't seem to be seeing the hand writing clearly writen on the wall. I'm worried that we may soon be changing the dictionary meaning of the word misspeak to suit Hill's interest, as we did with meaning of sex in the 1990s to suit Bill's, or we may have admit that sunni muslims and shias are them same to suit Mr McCain. Obama offers a better choice for America's position in the world now.

I am amazed at the SA bloggers, surely they can see what has happened in the entire African Continent - where is the success?

My vote surely goes to Hillary Clinton

Black man versus white woman...a tough one, really. As for what they stand for? It's really difficult to tell what the truth is with stories and 'misspeaking' coming at you from all angles.

America seems to be losing appeal with the rest of the world. Sympathy too. Hopefully the new president can change all that and help restore the country's dignity.

Sir
Naturally 24 hour news has kept [Buggles] busy, however, to cut a long story short [Video Killed The Radio Star]as the harsh reality is McCain has been fried, whilst Obama lied in church. So perhaps Hilary was ducking and diving from the cross-fire cuased by her opponents and like many a blonde, had gotton confused.
But I'm sure you will correct me if I am wrong! oh happy days, oh happy days..........

Having another Clinton in office would be a nightmare for the USA. Talk, promises even if it is madeup. How can the people believe anything she says now. How many other "little lies or misspoke America" has she told. I am a woman but I dont trust Hillary as far as I can throw her. Obama is on a learning curve but he is listening to what people want and need. Yes his Pastor made really disgusting remarks, but why blame Obama for that. America needs someone with fresh ideas and has his head screwed on the right way.

I must say that I think the rest of the world really does not have much time for the US. Who cares if Clinton or Obama wins the run ups. John McCain is just another GW Bush same principles, same retoric. I can actually see Bush sitting in his office with a joy stick that operates McCains mouth and and movements. Pathetic!! Sadly in South Africa if you walk into a pub and CNN or SKY News is on TV and a death is announced of a US troop that was killed in action in Iraq or Afganistan there is much jubilation and joy. Very sad.
